Fans are one step closer to the end of droughtlander as it has been revealed that “Outlander” will begin filming for its third season next month. Star Sam Heughan took to his Twitter handle to share the news via a Q&A session with his fans.

While waiting for a delayed flight, Heughan decided to answer a few questions from his fans. One of them asked when season 3 would start shooting, to which Heughan responded, “next month.”

The Scottish actor also revealed that above all else, he is most excited about filming the reunion scene between his character, Jamie, and his love interest, Claire (Caitriona Balfe).

Additionally, he admitted that he is looking forward to meeting John Grey after one fan asked him which character in “Voyager” was his favorite.

It was previously reported that Lord John Grey, who previously appeared as a young boy, would be fully grown by season 3 because of the 20-year time jump. And although the character has his own spin-off novel franchise, the third season of “Outlander” will only take from “Voyager.”

What else can fans expect from season 3? An older Jamie, for one thing. Season 2 saw an older version of Claire. And given the setting and time of season 3, it is likely that Heughan will also be donning an older look.

In an interview with Vulture, Heughan revealed that the third season is “going to be a completely different show.” How different? “Next year’s stuff is probably the most interesting, in a way. We’ve been setting it up, setting the stage, introducing these characters, and now it goes into new, different worlds,” he continued.

Season 3 is expected to depict the Battle of Culloden, which means there might be one beloved character fans have to say goodbye to — Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix). As avid fans know, Murtagh perished during the battle.

“Outlander” season 3 will premiere in 2017 on Starz. [Source]
